While the consistent rain has certainly put a damper on the evening rides, some of you brave souls still venture outdoors. Important ride update here:

Without jinxing the whole ice age ... it may be safe to say spring time is finally here. In honor of warmer weather, loss of leg warmers, a 12 day countdown to the showdown of all showdowns (Paris Roubaix - not to be confused with any other Roubaix which may or may not be produced by specialized), and the rise of all cycling souls everywhere ... we have given our website a facelift. Rides in and around DC are in full swing now so be sure to check the Group Ride page for details on when and where to meet. Some important dates / days / great rides to highlight:
* If you would like us to highlight a particular ride, shoot us a note and a description and we will help you get the word out!
Group rides this winter are in full swing as people's time off the bike has finally subsided and people are gearing up for the next season. If you are new to the area or have never been on one of the group rides before, this is a great time to begin! The paces of many of the rides are much slower than they will be in spring time as most cyclists are insistent upon accumulating "base miles." Base miles are ridden at a slower pace and most experienced cyclists will avoid taxing efforts.
Check out the group rides page for more information on rides. On todays ride to Great Falls and back we saw at least five - six separate group rides going on in addiiton to our own. Cheers! Fall is now upon us and many of the rides in DC have been postponed until spring time. We will periodically update our website with information we receive about the group rides; however, we always encourage you to check the official ride page to verify the ride is still Active. Two notable rides which will resume in the spring time are:
1. Freshbikes - VA 2. Downtown DC Breakaway Ride - DC Both the 7am and 10am rides (Saturday - DC/MD) progress all year long. If you have additional updates you would like to send to us please notify us in our feedback section. We have some friends in NYC who recently documented their journey from New York City to Montreal Canada. We stumbled across their trailer late last night and it immediately caught our attention. The full video will undoubtedly be worth the watch.
http://vimeo.com/70419411 Riders who are featured include: Vincent Malo (Québec - SRS & Team iBike) Josh Gieni (Saskatchewan - Team iBike) Gophrette Power (France) Danny G. Taillon (Québec) Romain Albertini (France) Marie-Hélène Lapierre (Québec) David Trumph (USA - Chalet Magazine) Phil Penman (England - Chalet Magazine) James Stevens (Australia - Chalet Magazine) Martin Amiot (Québec - Ombres & Lumières) Philippe Bellemare (Québec - Ombres & Lumières) After sorting through all of the suggestions & feedback we received, we have added even more rides to the DC, NOVA & MD pages! We also added a team, Evolution cycling, to the team page. There was a ton of great racing going on this weekend between the All-American RR & many others across the Mid-Atlantic region. BIG races coming up shortly for the MABRA. As the summer progresses and you find yourself lacking motivation to ride your bike? See below: Solutions: Option #1 - Go to the group rides page, stop making excuses, and have some fun with other people. If 1 fails consider option #2: Option #2 - Watch video below and ride your bike into a state of utter pain & bonk town. If options 1 & 2 do not work, consult option #3: Option #3 - Consult the rules, have an espresso and go ride your bike already! We have received awesome feedback this week on the website! Thank you to everyone who contributed and look for some rolling updates to the group ride page throughout this weekend! In the meantime grab your bike and head out on a ride! The weekend is the most popular time for group riding in DC/NOVA/MD. It hasn't even been a week online and we already found out about some more awesome rides rolling out from the city!
